What Tools do Project Managers Use?

A project manager is responsible for keeping a business's work humming along so that deadlines are met and goals are achieved. These individuals need specific tools to do their jobs in the most efficient way possible.

These tools include, but aren't limited to:

Email Software

Professionals that are managing numerous projects need access to a high-quality email platform. Ideally, they'll be able to send and receive messages on a set schedule, allowing work to occur offline and be sent later. Threading, tagging, and a powerful search component are also very helpful. Some email programs even go so far as to use predictive text or to pull appointments from an email and place them on a calendar, making it easier to stay on top of several projects at once.

Project Management Tools

Project management software allows managers to map out a project's various components and deadlines, then collaborate with everyone involved to make sure that each piece is delivered on schedule. This software is often cloud-based and allows users to collaborate and communicate on tasks without being in the same physical location. It can be an excellent way to track a project over time or to work together on a project with a team that is scattered around the world.

Messaging Systems

A highly functional messaging system is also important, so that project managers can exchange information in real time. In some cases, this is bundled with their project management tool. In others, it will need to be added in as a separate piece of software.

Project managers need to be able to work efficiently with their team members and process information effectively. These tools will help them to do their job as well as possible so that the company's projects can continue to move forward as scheduled and everything can stay on deadline.
