So you want to step up from your entry-level IT job and become a manager. Becoming an IT manager can really give your earnings a boost. Any management level job in IT is going to require you to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Therefore, you are going to want to get your Bachelor's at a minimum in IT management. Having a Bachelor's in IT management is going to provide you with both education in technology and management skills that are needed to become an effective IT manager. 

 

3. Hard Skills And Certification. 

 

Along with having the education, you will want to develop and get some of the hard and soft skills along with the right certifications to put yourself in the best position to succeed in the career. You should be developing hard skills like working with SAP implementation, SQL, Oracle, and more. Along with this, you will want to get a good amount of soft skills such as project management, budgeting, staff management and more. That way, you can position yourself as a good candidate to lead. 

 

By following the tips above, you should be able to effectively position yourself well to land a job in IT management. You really need a good combination of business and technology skills that will ensure the company that you can be an effective leader in their IT department.
